Controller - Sensor Matches
Summary of sensors used with some of the more common controllers in the Colorado area.
Continental/Webb Systemizer III; a special NTC sensor that is about 21.5 K Ω at 77 ° F. Click here for how to use 30 K Ω thermistors with this controller.
Dan-Mar; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Dencor; 5 K Ω thermistor.
Dynatech; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Hawthone/HI Square; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Heliotrope; the following models use 10 K Ω thermistors: DTT-84 & -94 series, DTT-74 (new) & -794 series, Temp Trac II 80000 & 90000 series are either 10 K Ω or programmable to 3 K Ω or 10 K Ω , Helio-Matic HM-4000A & B and 5000A & B, SP series (the Heliotrope literature says 10 K Ω , but we have worked on some SP Units that use 3 K Ω sensors), Quadra-Temp is programmable to either 3 K Ω or 10 K Ω , Two-Temp. DTT-80Z-ST & DTT-90Z-ST use 30 K Ω thermistors. As far as we can determine, all others use 3 K Ω thermistors including the older DTT-74 and Helio-Matic 4000 & 5000 (no letter following the numbers) models.
Honeywell; PTC sensor, 3340 Ω at 50° F, 3500 Ω at 85° F, and 3700 Ω at 125° F.
Independent Energy; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Johnson/Penn; PTC sensor, 1000 Ω at 70 ° F, 1090 Ω at 100 ° F, and 1210 Ω at 140 ° F.
NDI Apollo 44 series use 30 K Ω thermistors and the 88 series use 10 K Ω thermistors.
Novan; 2011, older units use 3 K Ω thermistors and the newer units use 10 K Ω thermistors, DLP-20 uses 10 K Ω thermistors.
Rho Sigma/Watsco; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Richdel; 10 K Ω thermistor.
Robert Shaw; SD-30, -31, & ST3990 series, 30 K Ω thermistors.
SDI; 10 K Ω thermistors.
Solaron; HC0115 & HC0116 use 30 K Ω thermistors, some later Solaron controllers use Honeywell differential controllers and associated sensors.
Solar Controls Corp.; models 77-171, 79-171, 80-171, 77-176, 77-620 use 30K Ω thermistors
TACO/Heliotrope; 3 K Ω thermistors
Webb 990 series use 30 K Ω thermistors.
Western Solar Products; 10 K Ω thermistors.
NOTES:
PTC = positive temperature coefficient,
NTC = negative temperature coefficient
